bladeofcalamityProfessor Neubauten and Anjelika created a project that made people into ”Dogs”, obedient dolls, that they called their children. Magato is such a ”Dog”, but a mongrel, from the Lowest Level, the Underground, of the city they live in. Unlike Heine and Giovanni, however, he does not have a collar or a ”God Mode”. He can't heal, like the younger ”Dogs”, but that also gives him better awareness of danger, and better reflexes. His memory is expanded for the sake of memorizing more about fighting. While Heine and Giovanni could be counted as siblings, Magato is their cousin of sorts. He knows a lot about the Fürer project, which Heine and Giovanni was part in, and knows the meaning of their surname, Rammsteiner.
Magato was forced to participate in experiments, and to massacre his friends, when he was small. Fuyumine taught both Magato and his sister how to fight, and the two sibling was a team that wasn't half bad. Then Anjelika ended the experiment, because she had started anothernproject, which was Naoto. With the end of the project, Fuyumine was ordered to kill Magato's group, but he had gotten attached to the group, and had fallen in love with Magato's sister, who later became Früling. with a plan that Herbst devised, they were all supposed to escape. Everyone except a guy that died and Magato's sister managed to escape. Magato only stayed around Fuyumine so that he could deafeat him, after that.
When he got older, he started to work as a Cleaner. He used to come with Fuyumine while the man went to save children from the Dogs from the Underground.
Later on, Fuyumine picked up Naoto, and Magato, after several years, he killed Fuyumine, calling it ”Magato's glorious independence day”. Naoto declared that she was going to kill him, which only riled him up more. She did manage to wound him and defeat him, and he left the sword that had belonged to Fuyumine to her, telling her about the ”other Naoto”, who was the one who really killed Naoto's parents.
Magato works as a hired assassin, and he's good at it. When he appears again, it is when he has performed a job for a client, that tries to kill him as thanks. In turn, Magato kills them all.Well, he killed everyone close by to his target, and not only the two he was supposed to kill. This was watched by a man called ”Herbst”, who comes from the organization that Magato once belonged to.
While Herbst sets a plan of messing up Badou in motion, Magato targets Badou's informant friend Mimi, who has been sniffing around for information about him. When he is about to kill her, he is interrupted by guards, and because of that, he spares her. The same evening, when the organization from the Underground invade the Lower Sector, he gets to fight to his hearts content against zombie soldiers.
Because of his bad sense of direction, he runs into Naoto, Heine and Nill, Naoto and Magato instantly get into a fight, and after an interrogation about Naoto's and Heine's relationsip, he brings Heine into the fight as well. To be able to both talk and fight seriously, he brought Naoto and Heine along to another place, which led through the slums that he lives in. Around that place, he also works as a Cleaner. Unfortunately, before they can get back to fighting, Luki and Noki appears through a tunnel, together with Miss Früling. When Früling tried to kill Naoto, Magato defended his younfer sister from his elder, but as Naoto was about to attack Früling again, the defence force interrupted. When Naoto wanted to still fight Früling, Mataro stops her, and Früling retreats. Magato also decides to leave, because he does not want to get arrested and killed for all the people he in turn has killed, and the defence force wantes to question Naoto and Heine, anyway.
He later shows up at thet church where Heine and Naoto currently live, to speak to Heine. They instantly engage in a fight, and Magato tries to get Heine to let out the beast that resides in his spine. When the other, violent side of Heine, designed for one-on-one combat, comes out, he gets really excited to fight. Unfortunately, that fight too gets interrupted, this time by Anjelika. When Heine shoots Anjelika, he listens to her talking about how she has many Units of herself, so it doesn't matter that she is killed. When Heine didn't kill the new Unit that showed up, looking like his friend Lily that he had killed long ago, Magato tried to kill that Unit, but she avoided his blade, and then retreated because she wanted to be killed by Heine, not by Magato.
Then Magato and Heine head back to the church, where Naoto has killed another Unit. She had also gone berserk, and attacked Heine. Magato mostly watch and comments, and Heine takes one of his blades to use so he can defend himself against Naoto.
Magato goes to search for the Unit that he tried to kill earlier, to question her. He asks if the Toy Soldiers that Anjelika has now is the from the same generation as him, people who were not lucky enough to escape, and he was right. After their conversation, Magato once again leaves.
For a change, Naoto finds Magato instead of the other way around. They get into a knife fight, and Magato tells Naoto the story about his sister. Then the grounds start shaking in an unnatural way, wheen the people from the defence force try to break through to the Underground. Not tha that bothers their fight. In that battle, Magato hopes to reach ”The ultimate conclusion of the ultimate sword dance”.
Naoto stabs him right through his left foot, but it doens't stop him. Instead, he continues fighting her with the knife still there. She slashes him across the chest several times with her blade, and makes him unable of continuing their fight for the time being. It's so kind of her to avoid his vitals, but he gave her openings on purpose, which she didn't take.
